What is vitamin A and what is it for?

At Caña Nature we have 3 types of guacamole.

On the one hand we have guacamole following the traditional recipe, with all the flavour of natural ingredients.

On the other hand, you have low-calorie guacamole, in whose recipe we include secondary ingredients such as apple.

And we also have guacamole rich in vitamin A. An alternative recipe that includes red pepper, which provides vitamin A, a mild spicy kick and, of course, all the benefits of this vitamin.

What is vitamin A?

Vitamin A is actually a fat-soluble vitamin, which is not produced by the human body, but is utilised through food intake.

This utilisation has many functions, but its general objective is to improve our defences. And it achieves this by acting in different parts of our organism.

Vitamin A and bones

Vitamin A is an important ally for bone tissue. In particular, it can help to maintain healthy and strong teeth at any stage of our lives, both as children when we are developing them and as adults.

Vitamin A and eyesight

Among the vitamins and nutrients that most benefit our eyesight, vitamin A is one of the most important.

The secret of this outstanding benefit is beta-carotene, one of the many provitamin A carotenoids, which, among its effects, stands out as an antioxidant and protector.

Vitamin A thus helps us to enjoy proper vision, keeping the retina in optimal condition and thus having good eyesight.

In fact, one of the main effects of vitamin A deficiency is reduced vision in poorly lit environments or at night.

Vitamin A and our defences

Our immune system is formidable, but any help is always welcome if it can strengthen it.

We can also benefit from vitamin A to help our immune system. For this reason, those with a balanced vitamin A balance are less likely to suffer from infections and related diseases.

In addition, vitamin A has also been identified as a protective element in oncological processes.

Vitamin A deficiency, on the other hand, exposes our body to serious problems, including respiratory tract epithelia.

Vitamin A for pregnant women

Before and after childbirth, vitamin A is an important ally for pregnant women and, of course, also for their babies.

During pregnancy, it helps the embryo to develop optimally, while during breastfeeding, it can be passed on to the baby and help it to strengthen its defences and bones.

Vitamin A and the skin

The relationship between vitamin A and the skin deserves a separate point. It is considered to be one of the most beneficial supplements for our dermatology in general.

Just to mention some of its advantages or benefits that we can take advantage of, we can identify the following:

  • It is a powerful antioxidant, thereby slowing down the effects of ageing.
  • It favours the healing of the skin and improves its smoothness.
  • Vitamin A is very effective against acne problems.
  • It helps to keep the skin moisturised, firm and fresh, ideal especially for dry skin.
