In many foods, including those you can find in Caña Nature, you can count on the advantages of beta-carotene. Don’t you know them yet?
What is beta-carotene?
Beta-carotene is a provitamin A carotenoid, a natural antioxidant that helps to synthesise vitamin A, as well as providing valuable benefits to our body.
Among these, one of the best known is the activation of melanin generation. This is why this organic pigment is popularly known as one of the best allies for achieving tanned skin in less time.
But the benefits of beta-carotene go far beyond tanned skin. It also protects the skin from free radicals and helps prevent sunburn, protects against the signs of ageing and prevents or reduces the appearance of wrinkles.
Other benefits of including beta-carotene in your diet include protecting your eyesight, preventing infections and problems such as cataracts. It also protects the bones, heart and mucous membranes.
Where are beta-carotene found?
Now that you know some of the many properties of these beta-carotenes, you will want to know what foods they are found in.
It should be borne in mind that beta-carotene is an organic pigment, so the colour of the food is associated with its presence. Fruits and vegetables that are red, orange, yellow or even dark green in colour contain beta-carotene.
For example, tomatoes and peppers are two of the best known foods for their presence of beta-carotene. You will find both in many of Caña Nature’s products.
Obviously in our 100% natural grated tomato you can enjoy not only the genuine flavour of the Pera Caniles variety of tomatoes, which are produced by our farmers on the Costa Tropical of Granada. You will also get a good supply of beta-carotene and its benefits. Another product that also includes our tomatoes is our fresh Salmorejo.
In addition, our Gazpacho and Salsa Mex are also made with tomato as an ingredient, to which we add peppers, another food with beta-carotene. The perfect opportunity to take advantage of its benefits, while enjoying the unique flavours of these recipes.
You can even find this carotenoid in our guacamole. Choose the Guacamole variety rich in vitamin A, to enjoy the benefits of this and other ingredients. This vitamin increases its presence in this variant of guacamole, thanks precisely to the inclusion of pepper in the recipe, which also provides vitamin B6, C and E.
