Step 1
Rinse the chickpeas well and, once drained, place them in a food processor, blender or whatever container you are going to blend them in. Mash the chickpeas and combine extra virgin olive oil, cumin, tahini and spices in the process. Like any traditional recipe, this avocado hummus recipe can be customised to your liking. Ideally, half a clove of garlic is included in the current step, but if you don’t want to taste it in the resulting mixture, you can leave it out.
Step 2
Peel the avocado. Cut the fruit in half and remove the stone with the help of a spoon. Then empty out all the pulp inside with the help of a spoon and set it aside. Discard the rest of the fruit. You can skip this process completely and make the avocado hummus recipe even easier if you choose directly the avocado pulp that we offer you in Caña Nature.
Step 3
Take the avocado pulp and pour it over the hummus we have prepared in the first step. Blend everything again. Add extra virgin olive oil, lemon juice, salt and pepper to the mixture. If we see that the result of the mixture is getting too thick, we can add water until we see that we obtain the perfect consistency.
Step 4
Before making the final movements with the blender, season to taste and add the spices of your choice. Some people sprinkle a little ground chilli for a spicy touch to the recipe.
Step 5
Once the avocado hummus is ready, you can serve it directly at the table or keep it in the fridge for a little while to keep it fresh.
Step 6
When it comes to presenting this avocado hummus recipe, you have many options. Ideally, sprinkle with a few spices and add some leftover avocado pulp or other avocado pulp. To drink, you can offer some toasted bread, nachos, pita bread and similar toppings. Some people also opt for vegetable crudités, especially carrots. Serve it as an appetizer or as a side dish for other dishes such as meat or fish – an ideal accompaniment to these recipes!
